(Written by Kodi Wolf sometime in 2013)
This was the year the roller coaster started.
I spent a month or so creating a Web site to host my stories and then unveiled them to the world on Leap Day (February 29).
Within a few days, I had fan mail and a mailing list.
In barely a week, I had won XIPPY awards for two of my stories and been invited to post my stories on The Bard's Corner.
Within two weeks, I received a fan mail from the woman who would eventually become my wife.
In just three weeks, I was offered a publishing contract (which I turned down for various reasons).
In just a month and a half, I was invited to be the first guinea pig, I mean author, on The Uber Abode's Talk to the Author online chat/interview series.
Within two months, I was offered (and accepted) a Web consultant job with a nonprofit company. At about the same time, I fell head over heels in love with that fan who'd e-mailed me earlier and ended up moving across the country (well, north to south anyway) less than three months later to be with her.
And that was just March to July.
Of course, with all that stuff going on, my writing suffered a bit. I went from posting new chapters nearly every other day, to about twice a week, then to once a week, then a couple times a month, and sometimes only once a month. I hated that, but the truth is I was finally enjoying my life, even if it was a tad stressful.
But even with all that, I still managed to post 60 chapters that year (an average of 5/month), which I'm extremely proud of.
Dare to make your dream a reality.
My original goal was simply to get feedback so I could become a better writer and get published in paperback someday. I had no idea the events I would set in motion by choosing to post my stories online. So many things would be different that I can't even fathom what my life would be like if I hadn't. I'm just so glad, so grateful, that I took a chance and put myself out there. It's been an amazing ride that I hope will continue for a long time to come.
