Hey everyone. I hope you guys enjoyed the holidays. I can't say my own were great (my kitty decided to get deathly ill, but she's better now), but I did get to spend some time working on my stories, so I have a lot of updates in store for everyone over the next few months.

To begin with, I've updated Lights of Life. I know, it was way overdue, but Chapter 10 is now up, so you can go read it.

Normally, I would offer a refresher, but it's been so long, you'd probably do better to just re-read the story yourself.

I've also updated this website's Policies section. You should probably read it, but don't let the Terms of Use Policy scare you. The whole thing is just to make sure I don't get sued over my stories or lose the right to publish them.

Blame it on my own paranoia (based on the conceited idea that I'm actually that good of a writer :)) and an article on Whoosh! ("Fan Fiction, Novels, Copyright, and Ethics" by Michela Ecks) that finally got me to stop putting it off and write out my policies. I'd already researched copyright laws in regards to novels and publishing online, and I knew I needed to post something "just in case," but reading that article made me realize procrastinating on this wasn't a very good idea.

Anyway, on the story front, New Gaia sort of got put on hold, so next up will probably be Assassin.

Chapter 16 of Assassin is now up. It's sort of the calm before the storm. The next time I update this story, which should hopefully be in about one month, I'll be posting all of the remaining chapters. If I just posted a chapter at a time, you guys would kill me for the cliffhangers. :)

Anyway, next up after this should be either Bloodlines or New Gaia.

By the way, I've been getting a lot of requests to work on Xena: Warrior Slave, A Bondage Primer, and Prisoner of War. I know they're all desperately in need of being updated, and I have worked a little on X:WS recently, but over the past month, I've been trying to get a work project completed, as well as trying to get my main posted novels finished up. That way I can have more time to work on the rest of my stories, both published online and not (all those "Coming in 200?" titles listed on my Stories page). So, there probably won't be any updates to my "sex" stories until I've gotten a few of the novels finished.

I know that's not the greatest news, but if I can clear out even just Assassin, I'll be able to take all the time I've been spending on that story and put it towards those others. Bloodlines is also very close to being finished, so that will free up even more space to work on my neglected stories.

I just want to reiterate that I will be completing X:WS, Primer, and PoW. It's just going to be a while before I really get back to them to finish them up (Primer will probably be finished the day before I die, but only if I live to be 80, and then I'll just have a heart attack from the final sex scene :)).

Now, go read the update. :)

Hey, guess what? I turned 26 yesterday. :)

Anyway, Chapter 21 of New Gaia has finally made it through beta, so you can go read it now. Let me know what you think of it. I know it's been a long time since the story was last updated, and unfortunately it will probably be a while before it gets updated again. The next chapter is going to be very long and requires research that I've only partially completed at this point (I still have some interviews to conduct).

On the bright side, Bloodlines should be getting updated next, and then the conclusion to Assassin should be posted right after that. Unless I end up having to do major revisions on it, and then you'll either get another couple chapters of Bloodlines or a chapter of Lights of Life.

Well, I hope you like the latest installment of New Gaia. It's taken me long enough to write it. :)

Well, it's a little later than I'd been hoping, but here's the update I promised for Bloodlines. Chapter 10 is now available, so go read it. :)

The ending of Assassin is taking me longer than I'd expected, due to some rewrites and a heavier than usual workload. However, that may be lightening up, so if it does, I might have the rest of Assassin ready by the end of the month, but it's more likely to take until the end of April.

Anyway, I'll try to get another update in this month (Bloodlines is most likely), but it really depends on my workload. I'm trying to save up for a new car in August, so I'm working as much as possible, which means writing is taking a backseat.

Well, let me know what you think of the new chapter. :)

Lights of Life Chapter 11 is now up. It's rather short, but I wanted to make sure I didn't let another year go by without an update. It's only been three months for this story, which I think is pretty good. :)

Well, I've been working a lot on Bloodlines, so I should be sending some more chapters to BetaWolf pretty soon (maybe even tonight). I've also gotten some of the rewrites done on Assassin, so I might actually make my deadline of the end of the month for that story's conclusion. Anyway, we'll see.

I've updated Bloodlines. Chapter 13 is now available. For those of you who were expecting Chapter 11, I've reorganized the chapters, so that's why Chapter 11 is now 13. For any of you who were in the middle of reading the story, if you were starting Chapter 3 or later, just add 2 to the number, and you'll be at the correct chapter, since the reorganizing only consisted of breaking up the first two chapters at more appropriate spots. Anyway, sorry if it's confusing.

I actually have several chapters done for Bloodlines, but I'm doing a final review of each chapter before posting (the content is fine, I'm just checking for typos), so you guys should be getting a chapter every few days for the next couple of weeks.

Hey again. Well, I guess I got bored over the weekend. I wrote a new one-shot story in The Facts of Life universe (Jo/Blair) to take a break from all the editing I've been doing on Bloodlines. For more information, and to actually read the story itself (yes, it's complete), go check out The Debutante and the Delinquent. And if you read it, let me know what you think. :)

Tomorrow, I'll post the next chapter of Bloodlines.

Chapter 16 of Bloodlines is now available. The next chapter will be posted on Thursday.

By the way, I've finally gotten some major revisions done on Assassin, so once it goes through beta (I should be sending it off on the 24th), I should be able to post it soon (unless my BetaWolves kill it again :)).

Also, my server has been under DDOS attack (Distributed Denial of Service), so if you find you're unable to access the site sometimes, that's why. I myself am still unable to access my server from my main computer, which has been really annoying, but luckily I have a second (old) computer which seems to be able to get through just fine. So, I should still be able to update as often as I intend to, until we can figure out how to fix the problem.

For those of you who don't know what a DDOS attack is, it's basically where a hacker has infiltrated a bunch of computers with a virus and then taken them over in order to send about a million requests per second for web pages on a particular server (not an exact definition, but close enough). It overloads the server's capabilities because it can't respond to all the requests, and crashes the site so that no one else can access it. It's annoying as hell and can be very difficult to isolate and prevent.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the latest chapter.

Chapter 19 of Bloodlines is up. The next chapter will be posted on Thursday.

I have only one request/warning. Have faith in me and remember my promise about happy endings (I don't do tragedies).

By the way, the reason there have been so many updates this month is because I took April off from work. I've been able to completely focus on my stories, instead of having to switch my concentration back and forth between work and writing (and yes, I've been working on more than just Bloodlines; can everyone say Xena: Warrior Slave? :)). Anyway, I don't know whether I'll be able to take May off as well. It really depends on whether I'm needed or not. I could certainly use the money, but I'm definitely still in a writing mood, so we'll see.

Chapter 20 of Bloodlines has been posted. The next chapter will be posted on Monday.

Well, you'll all be happy to know that I'm taking May off in addition to April, which means more updates. :) Money's going to be tight, but as long as my bills get paid and I can eat, I consider myself pretty lucky.

Anyway, I'm almost finished with the next installment of Xena: Warrior Slave (there should be 2 more after this one and then the story will be completed, yay!), so that should be going off to beta within the next few days. The final chapters of Assassin have also apparently cleared beta, so I'm hoping to get them posted maybe over the weekend.

Also, for those of you who were having problems accessing my site, I've changed servers, which seems to have fixed the problem, at least for me. If you know of anyone who is still having problems getting my site to come up, please let me know.

And one last thing. I have been getting bombarded with a new virus, though as far as I know, I do not have the virus (I've deleted all the e-mails without opening the attachments, and my hard drive was scanned and came up clean), nor have I passed it on, though I've received several e-mails saying that others have received virus-attached e-mails from me. I didn't think it was a big deal at first, but I noticed on Ashera's Archive that Ashera has also apparently been receiving e-mails saying that people are getting viruses from her.

Here's what I know from Symantec (Norton Anti-virus):

A virus called W32.Klez.gen@mm infects a computer and then scans the computer (Windows address book, ICQ database, and other local files) for e-mail addresses. It then sends a message to all of the addresses it finds with itself as an attachment, along with a real file from the infected computer (the file is chosen at random from the hard drive, and this could include personal files that you really don't want anyone else to see). The infected file attachment usually has a double extension (i.e., file.txt.exe, file.bat.txt, etc.), though not always. The subject line is random ("how are you," "lets be friends," etc.).

Now, here's the really fun part. The "From" part of the e-mail message is also random. The virus just chooses an e-mail address from random among all the addresses it finds on the computer and inserts it into the From section of the message, so you never see where the message was really sent from. This means that someone with my address on their hard drive has probably been infected, and my address happened to be the one that got picked for the From slot (probably on more than one computer). This is probably the case with most of the supposed senders of this virus.

So, if you get any messages that have two file attachments, even if they're from people you know, but there's no real message in the body of the e-mail, or the message is generic, do not open it and delete the thing immediately!

I've been getting about a dozen or more messages a day that contain this virus as an attachment (some talk about a new game it wants me to be the first to try, while one of the new ones says it's offering a virus tool to remove W32.Elkern). Sometimes, I recognize the address it's coming from (I've even gotten one that said it's from lunacyreviews@yahoogroups.com, which I have never been a member of, but obviously someone who got infected had that e-mail address on their hard drive), but I figure if the e-mail was legitimate, there would be something personally identifying in the text of the message.

The fact that I've received so many e-mails tells me that this virus is very widespread. So please, use an anti-virus program to check your hard drive, remove the virus if you have it, and then do not open any two-attachment e-mails.

For more information about the most recent viruses, please visit Symantec.com and go to their Expanded Threat List.

For information specifically about W32.Klez.gen@mm, you can read about it at the following link: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/

Chapter 21 of Bloodlines is up. The next chapter will be posted on Friday.

Well, Xena: Warrior Slave still hasn't been sent off to beta yet because I realized I was shortchanging on a few things, so I'm currently adding detail. Hopefully, I'll finish it by the weekend and send it off then.

And Assassin is just about finished. Since there have been a lot of little edits throughout the entire story, I decided to post the entire revised version of the story, instead of just the last few chapters. So, my girlfriend donated her services and converted over 200 pages of the story into HTML last night (thank you, baby :)). Now, I just need to double-check that everything is the way it's supposed to be, and then I'll post it (probably tomorrow, but Wednesday isn't out of the question). I'll give more details about what's been changed/added when I actually post it.

The last chapters of Assassin have been posted. I've done some reorganizing of the chapters again (of course), so if you've read everything that's been posted so far, the next chapter you should begin with is Chapter 26, rather than 17.

The main change that everyone should be aware of is a short extra scene I added to the end of Chapter 2. It's basically to establish Carlotti's character a little better, so that it's clear exactly what kind of guy he is. I realized I had major introductions for Case and Rain, but Carlotti barely makes an appearance until the ending chapters. So, that's the main addition.

The rest of the revisions involved cleaning up grammatical problems, spelling errors, and just rewriting things in the best way that I could. I also removed the lyrics to the song that Case sings (Sarah McLachlan's Shelter) because it's a major copyright infringement, though I do mention the song and the artist by name. Since I plan to publish this story in the real world, I didn't want there to be anything in the online version that wouldn't be in the published version. And that works in reverse, too; there will not be extra scenes that you can't get except to buy the book. I consider that blackmail, and I won't do it. If you buy my books, I want it to be because you enjoyed the story and want to support my efforts, not because you feel like you're missing out on something.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the story. I've put a lot of myself into it, so I know I'm going to have a hard time taking any major criticism for it, but please don't let that hold you back from writing to me. At first, I was going to request that no one send me critical feedback for a few months, but then I realized that was pointless. That would be like posting my work under a pseudonym, which I decided a long time ago I wouldn't do. If I write something, I need to have the courage to stand behind it, or I might as well just not let anyone read it.

So, good or bad, let me know what you think. Oh, and if you plan to buy this book when it finally gets published, I would appreciate hearing that, too. :)

One more thing. My girlfriend's poetry website (Roarin' Fire's Poetry) has been completely redesigned by me and is now housed on my server. She's added 31 new poems since October's update, so go check it out.

I'm sorry it's a day late, but Chapter 24 of Bloodlines is ready. I ended up getting pulled into working on another story, and it was just flowing really well, and then I crashed and didn't wake up until this morning. Anyway, the next chapter will be posted on Wednesday again (I'll try to get it posted really early in order to make up for this delay).

I will be posting two more chapters of Bloodlines, and then I'll be taking a break from the story, though it's not complete. However, I don't think you'll be too unhappy with where I leave it. :)

Anyway, like I said, I've been getting pulled into other stories, so I need to follow my muse where it takes me. I feel my writing is best when I don't try to force things, so I'm just going to let things flow. I'm sure I'll get back to Bloodlines when the muse is ready.

I apologize for the delay, but to be honest, I have some personal stuff I think I need to work on first. Hopefully, if I can work through whatever it is that has me so unfocused at the moment, I'll be able to get back into the swing of things. I always do; it's just a matter of time. Just be patient with me.

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any story updates for you yet. However, an interview I did has been published in Whoosh! (it's part of the 'Inside the Head of...' series). It's really long, so please go read that and don't be mad at me for the lack of updates. They are coming, it's just going to be a while longer.

Oh, and I've also updated the Links page with a couple sites I found that have done reviews of some of my stories. If you know of a site that is missing from my list, or maybe you've reviewed one or more of my stories yourself and forgot to tell me, I'd appreciate the link.

Hey,

Sorry for the fake out, but I don't collect email addresses for marketing purposes.

I was just told I needed an email signup form on my pages, so I created this one as part of the original design, then changed my mind, but decided to leave this here as an Uno reverse card. :)

Anyway, my stories are my sales pitch and if the free chapters (and entire books) aren't enough to convince you to pay for access to more of the same, then I don't see how my bugging you with emails is going to change your mind.

Plus, I have social phobia and trying to come up with marketing emails is my definition of an anxiety-inducing nightmare.

Not to mention that's not what I want to be doing with my precious writing time or wasting your precious reading time.

So, if you want to get an email from me, you'll either have to purchase a Story or Site Membership, or email me directly and talk to me about my stories.

Or ask me a question and I'll do my best to answer.

But seriously, email me about my stories.

Tell me what you liked, what you wish I'd done differently, your favorite scenes.

Especially if there's one story in particular you'd like me to update. I know some of them have been sorely neglected and it motivates me to work on them when my anxiety and chronic pain are making that more difficult than usual.

Hope to hear from you soon. :)

Take care,

Kodi
