Compared to last year, my total stayed about the same (it only increased by about 1,300 words), which is frankly amazing given the year I had with all the medical drama (which is still ongoing). I'm also really proud that I didn't break my streak, despite multiple hospital stays (for both me and my wife). I even managed to hit my goal of maintaining a 500-word daily average for the year.
I didn't post any new chapters, but I did finish Days 29 and 30 of ABP (~42,500 words), so I'm still considering that a win.
My goals for 2025 were the same as the past few years.
Write every day to keep my streak going. (Done - 3,646 days, including today)
Maintain a daily average of at least 500 words. (Done - see above)
Finish/Post new story chapters. (Partly Done - see above)
Don't fall below 100 words for any of my lowest days. (Done - see above)
Regarding the unposted chapters... I'm sorry, but I just haven't had any energy to figure out how to protect my work while still getting it to my members without having to spend a lot of time and money on it, especially when I'm not even remotely covering those expenses with new memberships or Patreon.
But rest assured, I will get it all working again one way or another. And if you email me and request the chapters, I'll send them to you as soon as I verify your membership.
I think that's all for now.
Take care.

I mostly just wanted to take a moment to commemorate that I've been writing every day for ten years now.
When I first started my writing streak on January 9, 2016, I didn't expect it to last for more than a few months, let alone a frickin' decade.
I just went back through my Writing Stats posts and added it up.
I've written 2,400,339 words over those 10 years. That's an average of 240,034 words a year, which is an average of 657 words a day. Every day. For 10 years.
You know, with everything else that's been going on, I kind of needed to see that.
And yes, I realize it's skewed from years where I was able to put a lot more time and energy into my writing than I've been able to in recent years. And half of those words are brainstorming notes and outlines. But the other half is definitely story text, even if the majority is currently unposted, and I've been actively using all those notes and outlines to get new scenes and chapters written on a regular basis, so it's not like it doesn't count.
Anyway, I recently went through a free course (The Overwintering Writer) that focused on reviewing the previous year in order to prepare and plan for the upcoming year, and having that chance to pause and reflect on my current writing routine and be a little more intentional with things has really helped me clarify what I want to accomplish this year.
But I think I'll get into that in a later post. For now, I just wanted to leave this note here for myself the next time I'm skimming through these posts.
You did it. You're a fucking writer. :)
Now do what you love and go write.
